Creating a SharePoint PPT for Training: A Step-by-Step Guide
In this tutorial, we will cover the basics of creating a PowerPoint presentation (PPT) that can be shared and managed within SharePoint. By the end of this guide, you will have created a simple yet effective training presentation using SharePoint.
Step 1: Create a New Presentation
To start, open Microsoft PowerPoint and create a new presentation by clicking on the “File” tab and selecting “New.” Choose a template or theme that suits your needs, or start from scratch. For this tutorial, we will be creating a simple presentation with text slides and images.
Step 2: Add Slides and Content
Begin adding content to your presentation by clicking on the “Home” tab and selecting “New Slide.” Repeat this process until you have the desired number of slides. You can add text, images, charts, or other media to each slide as needed.
For example, let’s say we want to create a training presentation about SharePoint basics. We could start with an introduction slide that includes a title, subtitle, and image:
- Title: “Welcome to SharePoint Training”
- Subtitle: “Getting Started with Microsoft’s Collaboration Platform”
- Image: A screenshot of the SharePoint homepage
Step 3: Add Images and Media
To add images or media to your presentation, click on the “Insert” tab and select the desired option. For example:
- To add an image, click on “Picture” and browse for the file you want to use.
- To add a video, click on “Video” and enter the URL or upload the file.
For our SharePoint training presentation, we might add images of different SharePoint features, such as lists, libraries, and workflows. We could also include videos that demonstrate how to perform specific tasks within SharePoint.
Step 4: Organize Your Slides
As you add more slides to your presentation, it’s a good idea to organize them into sections or modules. You can do this by using PowerPoint’s built-in features, such as:
- Section headers: Click on the “Home” tab and select “Section Header” to create a new section header.
- Slide groups: Select multiple slides at once and use the “Slide Group” feature to group them together.
For our SharePoint training presentation, we might organize our slides into sections like “Getting Started,” “Basic Features,” and “Advanced Topics.”
Step 5: Save and Share Your Presentation
Once you’ve completed your presentation, save it as a PowerPoint file (.pptx). You can then share it with others by:
- Uploading it to SharePoint
- Sending it via email or messaging app
- Sharing it on social media
To upload your presentation to SharePoint, follow these steps:
- Log in to your SharePoint site and navigate to the library where you want to store your presentation.
- Click on the “Upload” button and select the PowerPoint file you just saved.
- Fill out any required metadata fields (e.g., title, description, tags).
- Click “Upload” to complete the process.
That’s it! You’ve successfully created a SharePoint PPT for training that can be shared with others.
